چکیده
Abstract The otoliths of teleosts are part the inner ear. They related to balance system and also mechanical components sound transmission, responsible for hearing in fish. Their morphology is determined by function they perform influenced environmental factors. In this context, our goal was to: analyse possible morphological changes sagitta Micropogonias furnieri (Desmarest, 1823) during its ontogeny, based on six biometric indexes. We analysed 162 sagittae collected Rio de la Plata estuary. variation indexes associated with different size groups. Rectangularity aspect ratio [otolith length/total fish length (OL/TL) sulcus area/otolith area (SA/OA)] were that contributed most discriminant function. Induction of oocyte maturation in the white croaker Micropogonias furnieri (Pisces: Sciaenidae) by human chorionic gonadotropin.
The present work aimed to identify the best doses of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) needed to induce oocyte maturation of Micropogonias furnieri and to characterize ovarian dynamics during the periovulatory period. Adult M. furnieri females with fully developed ovaries were injected intraperitoneally with four different doses of hCG. The gonadotropin response was succeeded by analyzing morp...

The aim of this work was to evaluate and compare the color, texture and sensory characteristics of whitemouth croaker (Micropogonias furnieri) surimi and mechanically separated chicken meat (MDCM) surimi-like material (SLM). The whiteness of the MDCM-SLM was higher (P > 0.05) than that from the surimi. Higher breaking force (P < 0.05) and gel strength (P < 0.05) were also observed for the MDCM-...
متن کاملThe adductor pectoral fin muscle of Micropogonias furnieri (Perciformes: Sciaenidae): a morphological and histochemical study
The adductor pectoral fin muscle in post-spawning females of the white croaker Micropogonias furnieri (Desmarest, 1823) is described from a morphological, histochemical and morphometric perspectives. A description of the morphological characteristics was conducted after dissections in different layers, down to the deep layer. Five muscles were found: superficial, medial, radial and deep adducto...
متن کاملCommunity ecology of the metazoan parasites of white croaker, Micropogonias furnieri (Osteichthyes: Sciaenidae), from the coastal zone of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
One hundred specimens of white croakers, Micropogonias furnieri (Desmarest 1823) (Osteichthyes: Sciaenidae) collected from Pedra de Guaratiba (23 degrees 01'S, 43 degrees 38'W), State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from September 1997 to August 1999, were necropsied to study their parasites. The majority of the fish (95%) were parasitized by metazoan. Twenty-eight species of parasites were collecte...
متن کاملComparing the hydrolysis degree of industrialization byproducts of Withemouth croaker (Micropogonias furnieri) using microbial enzymes
Enzymatic modification of proteins is being increasingly studied, with the aim of adding commercial and nutritional values to byproducts. Thus this work aims to study the hydrolysis degree obtained by different enzymes and compare among different Withemouth croaker (Micropogonias furnieri) byproducts: mechanically separated meat, protein isolate and bones. To obtain the peptides, an enzymatic h...
